View and modify snapshot policies

The Snapshot policy feature provides snapshot orchestration at scale (1,024 snaps per storage group). The feature simplifies snapshot management for snapshots.

Prerequisites

See Roles and associated permissions to determine the user roles that can perform this task.

NOTE: When modifying snapshot policies, ensure that your system is sized for the snapshot usage that the policies will consume.
NOTE: Any changes to a snapshot policy affect every storage group associated with that policy.

About this task

See Understanding Snapshot policy for an overview of the snapshot policy functionality.

Renaming a policy results in the renaming of existing policy snapshots.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports snapshot policies.
  2. Select Data Protection > Snapshot Policies.
  3. Click An icon showing a pencil symbol on the panel of the selected policy.
  4. Modify any of the following:
    • Snapshot policy name
    • Select the snapshot creation rate, interval, and offset into the interval. For example, create a snapshot hourly, every 6 hours (interval) at 05:59 (offset) into the interval.
NOTE: The interval cannot be greater than the offset. You can also type a value for the interval (a value not greater than the offset) if you do not want to select from the available intervals.
    • Retention details
    • Optional: Compliance values
  5. Click Modify.
